A letter from a volunteer vet

I am a veterinarian from Wisconsin , fortunate to have the opportunity to volunteer with my fiancé, Daniel Bocock, at the Tibet Charity Animal Care Section in McLeod Ganj.
This is my second summer with Tibet Charity and the experience is just as great again. It is fun to see all but one of the dogs I met and treated two years ago doing well and enjoying their community dog lives. Seeing the clinic and its mission continued and successful makes volunteering worthwhile and worth repeating.
During our stay with Tibet Charity we supported the ABC program of the clinic, which focuses on spay, neuter, and rabies vaccination. ABC has helped to control rabies and has significantly reduced and stabilized the population of street dogs in McLeod Ganj. In addition we treated injured and sick animals who otherwise would not have any place to go for treatment.
We also had fun making small improvements at the clinic. Daniel found time to re-plaster and paint the recovery area, install a fan, improve lighting in the surgery area, and go shopping for badly needed blankets, medications and vaccines.
As a volunteer you will work hard, but, like Daniel and me, you will feel privileged to be a part of the work carried out by Tibet Charity.

  1. Thanks a lot Ailena and Daniel. Your stay has been highly beneficial for the stray dogs here. Your works at making minor repair works at the clinic is highly appreciated. Looking forward to have you here with us sometime (many times) in the future.
